Costs

How much is the agency fee?
Our agency fee starts from $388. What is included can vary between agencies, so it is worth comparing on value, not just the headline number.
What are the total costs of hiring a maid in Singapore?
On top of the agency fee you have the monthly levy, the security bond, insurance, the medical examination and the helper's salary. Our guide to the cost of hiring a maid breaks each one down.
What is the FDW levy?
A monthly government charge for employing a migrant domestic worker. As a guide it is around $300 at the standard rate, and around $60 at the concessionary rate for eligible households. Confirm current figures with MOM.
What is the security bond?
A $5,000 bond to MOM required for helpers who are not Malaysian. It is usually covered by a letter of guarantee bundled with your maid insurance rather than paid as cash upfront.
Do I qualify for the concessionary levy?
Households with a Singapore citizen child under 16, an elderly member, or a person with disabilities may qualify. We help you check, because it is easy to miss and the saving is significant.

Choosing a helper

What is the difference between transfer, fresh and ex-Singapore maids?
A transfer maid is already in Singapore and moving employers. A fresh maid is a first-timer recruited and trained from overseas. An ex-Singapore maid worked here before and is returning. See the transfer, fresh and ex-Singapore pages for details.
Which nationality should I choose?
Indonesian helpers are often chosen for childcare and cooking, and Myanmar helpers for eldercare and infant care. Every helper is an individual, so we match to your specific needs.
Can I interview before hiring?
Yes. You can meet a candidate in person or by video call before you decide.
Can I choose the helper's nationality, age or experience?
Yes. Tell us your preferences and we factor them into the shortlist.

Process and timeline

How long does hiring take?
A transfer is usually about 1 to 3 weeks. A fresh or ex-Singapore helper recruited from overseas is usually about 4 to 8 weeks.
What paperwork do you handle?
The Work Permit application, insurance, the security bond, and the Settling-In Programme arrangements where required. We keep the timeline clear at each step.
What is the Settling-In Programme?
A one-day orientation required for first-time helpers, run by MOM-appointed providers, covering safe work practices and adjusting to life in Singapore.
Do first-time employers need to do anything?
Yes. First-time employers usually complete the Employer Orientation Programme before applying. We guide you through it.

After placement

What if the helper is not a good fit?
Talk to us and we will help arrange a suitable replacement in line with your contract. Support does not stop once she starts.
Do helpers get a rest day?
Yes. Rest days are a legal requirement. We explain the arrangements, including compensation in lieu where both sides agree.
What are my ongoing duties as an employer?
Paying salary on time, levy payments, keeping insurance valid, the six-monthly medical examination, and providing a proper rest day. Our cost guide covers the recurring items.
